MamaBlogger365 - "Extraordinary. Beautiful. Empowering."

Hey – look how pretty we are! But, Kelly LeBrock says ‘Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful‘. Remember that ad? She visited the museum this week thanks to new friend Donnetta Campbell, of The Barnyard Group. We ordered up a gorgeous vegetarian lunch from Candle Cafe and got down to business, talking M.O.M. and more. Seems Kelly has been living the outdoor life, cooking natural foods, sprouting, raising her kids, loving her animals and caring for her mother in her final stages of life. What’s not to love? We totally connected and Kelly offered up our first ‘celebrity endorsement’ for the museum. Her words; “Extraordinary, beautiful, empowering.”

What a great way to start the week!

We also hosted the ‘1st on First‘ Festival with Gymboree this week. It as a day long UES celebration with discounts, deals and special offerings by local vendors. Citibank stopped by so we could discuss possible ways to work together in the future, organized by M.O.M. advisory board member Janae Shields of Goodwill in the Bronx.

Spent a lot of time planning upcoming events like our Conference on Monday, Feb. 6th on Sexuality and Motherhood, with special guests Lisa Sandusen, Joyce McFadden, Sam Gedal, Pamela Madsen, Debra Pascali-Bonaro and Charlotte Ghiorse. I’ll be there too in the capacity of Media Mom. It’s not too late to attend!

Also, special thanks to Miriama Duncan and Hunter College. We’re optimistic about developing an internship for Social Work students to facilitate at M.O.M.

Last but not least, we raised a glass with the SavingMothers.org group, just back from their trip to Guatemala. They delivered the amazing birth kits we put together with volunteers at the museum in January and delivered them to local midwives and mothers in need.

Always something going on at M.O.M. Come visit us Tuesday – Sunday, between the hours of 10:45-6 with special events planned; like next week’s seminar on ’7 Steps to Revamp Your Health’ with Kareen Walsh, Revampologist.com on Tuesday night 5:30-7:30. Check our online calendar for specifics.
